KEA, NEA and WKU Partnership Gets Approval from Education Professional Standards Board for 2nd Continuing Education Option

Registration opens soon, first cohort will begin in July
The Kentucky Rank Advancement Academy Educational Leadership Pathway partnership between KEA, NEA, and WKU won approval from Kentucky’s Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) on February 18.
The new CEO option is a two-year program with designated meeting dates and expectations that include a research course at WKU, ten virtual meetings, ten micro-credentials, and a final presentation/capstone project. Candidates will work through many components of leadership and implement them within their own school and district.
Cohorts will begin in July 2025 and a new cohort will begin every summer each year after. An educator will attain their rank change upon completion of the program and will have nine graduate hours towards their twenty-four credit-hour requirement to attain a Master of Educational Leadership Certification from WKU, if they choose to continue with the certification.
Any KEA member who would like to occupy any type of leadership role within their school or district should apply, including team leader; teacher leader; department chair; instructional coach; assistant principal; principal; or central office position.
An announcement of dates for registration will be published soon. If you have additional questions about the new CEO option, please contact KEA’s Director of Professional Excellence Michelle Jones by email or call (502) 696-8984.
