Kentucky Rank Advancement Academy - Mentor

Mentors are essential to the success of our Kentucky Rank Advancement Academy Candidates. 

If you have ever wanted to help others grow and develop into a more effective educator this is the opportunity for you. 

Mentor Requirements: 

  • KEA member or recent KEA Retired Member- (within 3 years)
  • Minimum of 8 years in Education
  • Currently hold a master’s degree, Rank I Certification, Doctorate, or NBCT Certification in KY
  • Hold a valid KY Teaching License
  • Ability to commit to working with a group of 7-10 educators over the course of a 2 year commitment.

Items to gather prior to applying

  • Educational Resume
  • Letter of Reference from peer or administrator

If Selected: 

All selected mentors will be required to complete KRAA Mentor Training where they will receive the in depth understanding, materials, coaching, and supports needed to work with KRAA Candidates. 

Mentor Training Support Includes: 

  • Mandatory 6-hour Mentor training
  • Access to a Mentor Leader to contact for specific questions and needs. 

Mentor Materials Include: 

  • Mentor Agreement/ Contract
  • Mentor/ Candidate Agreement
  • Mentor “Lesson Plans” and “Lesson” for each candidate meeting
  • Mentor Meeting Reflection Sheet

Stipend Information

KEA believes in compensating our Mentors for their time and commitment to the KRAA process.

All KRAA Mentors Receive a stipend for their work/ support.

Year 1=$1500

Year 2=$1000
