The Kentucky Education Association wants to thank all of the many KEA members and staff who are organizing in your local and collecting donations. If you are looking for ways to assist communities in Eastern Kentucky, please see the list below. The relief effort has moved past the emergency stage to the recovery stage; at this point, donations of money and volunteer time are more helpful than anything else.
Ways to help:
KEA Appalachia has set up a GoFundMe account that will go directly to Family Resource/Youth Service Center Directors in each eastern Kentucky school district affected by the floods. To donate you can click here. ( https://loom.ly/odrGURg
Donate to the Team Eastern Kentucky Relief Fund. All donations to the Team Kentucky are tax-deductible and will be directed to the Kentucky residents impacted by the flood. This money will be used to pay for immediate assistance for communities in Eastern Kentucky. To donaate you can click here.
Donate a $25.00 gift card – The donation of a gift card can quickly assist those most in need. We suggest purchasing “Vanilla Visa” or similar cash-like cards that can be used at any vendor for any reason. KEA will collect donated gift cards through any KEA office and will forward all donations to locals in the area to assist members, the community, and /or FRYCS. Click here to find the KEA office closest to you.
Volunteer to Assist Community members directly: EKY Mutual Aid is signing up volunteers to assist with clean-up, donation center, debris removal, etc. Click here for more information or to sign-up. Click here to volunteer in Perry County.
Most importantly, remember that recovery will take a long time and continued assistance will be needed in the coming months. Please watch future notifications for other opportunities to donate and volunteer.
