Legislators Reach Agreement on 2010 State Budget Reductions Lawmakers reached agreement on June 24 on a budget adjustment to plug a nearly billion dollar shortfall in the 2010 state budget. The agreement will result in deeper cuts than Governor Beshear proposed. KEA Supports Increased School Funding, Including Through Video Lottery Terminals The Kentucky Education Association has endorsed Gov. Beshear’s proposal to allow video lottery terminals at the state’s racetracks. KEA President Sharron Oxendine said, “For KEA the issue is not about gambling or the horse racing industry. For KEA, it’s all about gaining desperately needed state revenue, which will result in more money to invest in our children’s education.
