The KEA Student Program is a professional association for college students preparing to enter the teaching profession. KEA Student Program dues are $21 for 2014-2015 and 2015-16. This includes $15 for NEA, $5 for KEA and $1 for the KEA technology assessment. Your local chapter may have campus dues as well. For more information view the list of local dues or chapter advisors. The membership year begins September 1 and ends August 31. KEA participates in the NEA early enrollment program. Any student member who joins KEA SP before August 31, 2015 will be a member of KEA SP through August 31, 2016.
Through its affiliation with the Kentucky Education Association and the National Education Association, KEA SP provides college students with assistance, benefits, professional resources, and the opportunity to learn -- not only from each other -- but from a network of campus advisors and from practicing professional educators.
In addition, KEA SP members are covered by the NEA Educators Employment Liability (EEL) insurance program. The professional liability program provides coverage up to $1,000,000 per KEA member per occurrence in the event a civil judgment for damages caused by an occurrence/omission in the course of the member’s educational employment activities is rendered. The professional liability program also provides $300,000 per member per occurrence for civil rights issues or civil rights claims against KEA members, exclusive of any other claims under the policy.
KEA SP is the 8th largest student organizations in the country and has local chapters on most Kentucky college and university campuses. Each KEA SP campus chapter plans activities and programs for members to help them become successful teachers. KEA SP provides statewide training sessions to keep future teachers informed on the issues that will affect them when they enter the classroom and to provide valuable professional development opportunities. You may elect to pay your membership dues online with a credit card, through your local campus chapter advisor or by mailing a membership form and check to KEA. If payment is made online or with a check sent to KEA, KEA will notify the local campus chapter advisor of your membership.
